New investments to support the energy transition
Trento, 21 Gennaio 2026 – The Dolomiti Energia Group and EPICO have finalised the closing of a new partnership. Following the previous industry agreements reached in recent months in the field of photovoltaic plants, the partnership will now be expanded to include hydroelectric power. Specifically, the agreement signed today provides for the Dolomiti Energia Group to acquire a 75% stake in EPICO Solar Development, a company that holds operational assets and, through development agreements with subsidiaries of EPICO, aims to develop new photovoltaic plants. The agreement also provides for the establishment of a new company, with 70% of its share capital held by Dolomiti Energia Group, in order to accelerate the development of new medium-sized hydroelectric power plants.
The transaction was completed following the fulfilment of all the conditions precedent typical of transactions of this nature. The Enterprise Value relating to the scope of the transaction stands at approximately EUR 8.3 million.
The partnership comprises approximately 6.3 MW of photovoltaic plants already in operation, 3 MW of projects already authorised – for which construction will commence following the closing – as well as a pipeline of further projects at various stages of development, with a capacity target of approximately 60 MW by 2030. As regards hydroelectric power, one project is at an advanced stage of the authorisation process, with an expected output of 13–14 GWh per year, whilst others are at the site assessment stage.
“With the closing of this transaction,” stated Stefano Granella, CEO of the Dolomiti Energia Group, “the Dolomiti Energia Group confirms its position as the leading national operator in terms of installed capacity exclusively from renewable sources, reaching over 1.8 GW of operating wind, photovoltaic and hydroelectric capacity and over 100 MW under construction. We aim to accelerate the growth targets outlined in our 2030 Plan, to provide new energy to Italy and expand our longstanding leadership in renewables. In particular, with the development of new hydroelectric power, we are making an essential contribution to diversifying sources and ensuring Italy’s energy independence.”
“EPICO’s growth path continues through the implementation of investments for the development of new company-owned hydroelectric and photovoltaic plants and the consolidation of revenues generated by its engineering services business line,” stated Flavio and Valerio Andreoli Bonazzi, respectively Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EPICO. The partnership with the Dolomiti Group will enable Epico to accelerate its growth plan by launching further significant co-investments in both greenfield and brownfield renewable plants, leveraging the know-how gained over more than 25 years of operations.”
Energy Production Industry Company S.r.l. (EPICO) has been investing in renewable energy production plants with an installed capacity of between 1MW and 10MW since 1999, managing all activities across the production chain in-house, including development, construction and management of plants.
EPICO and its subsidiaries own more than 60 hydroelectric, photovoltaic and solid biomass plants, located in northern, central, and southern Italy. www.epico.green - info@epico.green
