The new three-year agreement accelerates AI adoption to transform customer and employee experiences and business processes. The Group’s first applications already demonstrate significant results in terms of quality, employee support, and operational stress reduction, starting with the use of Microsoft Copilot.
The goal is to go further by leveraging multiple technologies and focusing on training and the development of tailored solutions to set a new standard in the Energy & Utilities sector, which is strategic for Italy’s competitiveness.
Milano, 11 december 2025 – Dolomiti Energia Group and Microsoft Italia announce a new three-year collaboration agreement focused on the broad adoption of generative and agentic AI, in line with the Group’s industrial plan priorities, which place Digitalisation and Sustainability at the heart of its growth strategy. This new agreement is built on a shared vision focused on innovation and sustainability, and it leverages the long-standing collaboration between the two partners. For years, they have worked together in Cloud, Data Management, and Cyber Security with the goal of accelerating the digital transformation of the Dolomiti Energia Group and contributing to the evolution of the entire Energy & Utilities sector.
Under the new agreement, Dolomiti Energia Group will once again benefit from Microsoft’s resources and expertise, not only to drive technological change in step with the times but also to support a deeper cultural and operational transformation that is future-proof. In the era of generative and agentic AI, the two companies aim to:
- jointly develop high-impact projects in strategic areas such as employee support, operations, customer service, sustainability, and security, harnessing all of Microsoft’s AI technology to automate processes and create bespoke agents – ranging from the Microsoft 365 Copilot conversational assistant and integrated ready-to-use agents to Azure OpenAI Service models and platforms for building custom agents like Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry;
- share reciprocal know-how, which will be key to creating valuable vertical applications for the Dolomiti Energia Group with an impact across the entire Energy value chain, while also benefiting from access to exclusive acceleration programmes like Microsoft AI L.A.B. to test prototypes in a secure environment and facilitate their adoption.
The collaboration between the two companies also focuses on training and skills development. As part of a broader cultural and operational shift across the Group, employees will take part in tailored training programmes and will also benefit from skilling initiatives and support from Microsoft specialists to gain expertise and certifications that help them make the most of AI as a tool to enhance productivity, creativity, and innovation.
“This agreement with Microsoft Italia marks a fundamental step in our evolution plan,” said Stefano Granella, CEO and General Manager of Dolomiti Energia Group. “This collaboration enables us to create a future where technological innovation tangibly improves people’s lives. Artificial intelligence, used with a clear vision and ethical principles, strengthens our organisation’s competitiveness, enhances the effectiveness of customer services, and creates new opportunities for employees and stakeholders.”
“We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with Dolomiti Energia Group, a partner that shares our vision of the strategic importance of responsible innovation,” said Vincenzo Esposito, CEO of Microsoft Italia. “Our mission is to provide not only the most advanced technology but also the skills and tools to harness it effectively. We will make our programmes and specialists available to support Dolomiti Energia Group in developing effective, secure, and sustainable generative and agentic AI solutions and to accompany the Group on its growth journey at a national level. This alliance is proof of how a strategic approach to AI can generate a positive and lasting impact for businesses, people, and the environment. The joint commitment of Microsoft and the Dolomiti Energia Group aims to set a new standard in a sector that is key to the country’s competitiveness, where artificial intelligence can fuel a more efficient, sustainable and impactful business model across all areas of our lives.”
Over the next three years, the collaboration roadmap between the two players will develop across several focus areas under the guidance of Edoardo Fistolera, ICT & Digital Manager of the Dolomiti Energia Group:
- Boosting productivity by increasingly leveraging Microsoft 365 Copilot and its agents to optimise repetitive tasks and free up time for higher-value activities. The first Copilot applications are already delivering promising results. The tool has been well received by employees, with a significant impact on output quality and an estimated potential support of up to 10–12 hours per month for each user.
- Making processes smarter by using agents capable of automating complex workflows and operationally intensive tasks.
- Personalising the customer experience to offer tailored services, proactive support and faster, more effective interactions in line with Dolomiti Energia’s customer-centric approach and its ambition to build increasingly engaging and lasting relationships with customers.
- Championing sustainability by applying AI to promote increasingly sustainable business models and processes, as well as experimental energy efficiency projects aligned with the carbon-negative commitment of both players.
- Ensuring security through a cross-cutting AI for Security and Security for AI approach to guarantee cybersecurity, compliance and business continuity – critical in the energy sector and central to Microsoft’s commitment to Responsible AI.
